I am Associate Professor of English Language, Linguistics and Translation at the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures, Roma Tre University, where I serve as Head of the Research Committee.
Didattica
I teach modules on English Language and Linguistics, Translation Theory and Practice, and Audiovisual Translation at both BA and MA level.
I am a member of the board of the International Doctoral Programme in Studies in English Literatures, Language, and Translation, based at the Department of European, American and Intercultural Studies, Sapienza University of Rome, and of the Doctoral Programme in Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures, Roma Tre University.
I have given invited lectures at a number of universities in Europe, including University College London, University of Manchester, Bangor University, University College Dublin, Université Bordeaux Montaigne, University of Turku, Finnish Literature Society.
Ricerca
I am a member of the ITEM research group on Multilinguisme, Traduction, Création (Institut des Textes et Manuscrits Modernes, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Paris) and one of the founders of the research group TRADAC (Audiovisual Translation and Accessibility). I am Vice President of the Italian James Joyce Foundation and a board member of CIRSIL (Centro Interuniversitario di Ricerca sulla Storia degli Insegnamenti Linguistici).
In 2019 I received a Helm Fellowship to support research at the Lilly Library, Indiana University, and a Harry Ransom Center Research Fellowship in the Humanities to research at the Ransom Center, University of Texas at Austin. In the same year I served as Visiting Professor at Bordeaux Montaigne University (France).
In 2022 I was awarded the AIA Book Prize Honourable Mention for the monograph ð˜‘ð˜¢ð˜®ð˜¦ð˜´ ð˜‘ð˜°ð˜ºð˜¤ð˜¦, ð˜Œð˜¯ð˜¨ð˜ð˜ªð˜´ð˜© ð˜›ð˜¦ð˜¢ð˜¤ð˜©ð˜¦ð˜³ (2020).
My research interests lie primarily in the fields of English Linguistics and Translation Studies, ranging from audiovisual translation to cross-cultural pragmatics, history of English language teaching, sociolinguistics, literary translation, and gender studies. I have also written extensively on James Joyce and Ezra Pound.
My most recent work focuses on film translation history, women translators, translator manuscript genetics. Other recent projects deal with translators' archives, collaborative self-translation, William Weaver, Charlie Chaplin and Stanley Kubrick.
